Building Electrovia

The company grew out of two things Thomas has spent his life on: building heavy highway, bridge and tunnel infrastructure, and a lifelong love of electric vehicles and electronics. Put together, they point to one answer. Heavy vehicles will only go fully electric when charging is built into the road itself, so Electrovia puts high-power wireless charging into the pavement where they already operate.

He started the company with no outside capital, won a $490K State of Tennessee grant to build the first system, and in June 2026 that system transferred 505 kW at 91% efficiency, one of the highest power levels demonstrated for heavy-duty wireless charging in the world.

Before Electrovia

Thomas spent 12 years building heavy civil infrastructure, including work for TxDOT, the Port of Houston, Ferrovial and The Boring Company. More recently he has led customer hardware disposition for external customers of AWS, managing commercial strategy and contracts across a global supply chain network.

That mix shapes how Electrovia approaches wireless charging: as a construction, manufacturing and supply chain problem as much as a power electronics problem. The result is one precast concrete panel that holds the coil and the full power stage, designed for 500 kW.
